>>Hel knew that he wouldn’t have enough time to explain to the Children of Light just how dangerous his brother was. Lihan deceived them, tricked them into worshiping him like the god he would like to be, the god he saw himself as.
He founded a church, a cult, got these poor lost souls to follow him, give their lives for him and there was nothing Hel could do. Nobody believed him. He was the dark side. The ruler of death, the creator of the afterlife. He was a dark soul, a lying fox. It was his fault they saw himself like that. His love for his brother was just too strong and when Lihan told him that he would like to rule the light, Hel let him. Anything to see his little brother happy, right?
Now he had to find a way to save the Children, save Cor.<<
Cor was a broken land. Has been since the ground broke open and revealed a bustling ecosystem deep under it. Dark spirits inhabit the dark and gloomy valleys, demons wander through giant rainforests and amidst all of those two brothers, cats, who just tried to survive this harsh environment.
But with the big opening that scratched the sky more cats found their way into the depths beneath.
They asked Hel and Lihan to guide them, to teach them how to survive down in Cor. And the brothers did. As guardians of this place they knew best. They kept the balance between all beings in Cor, they decided who was to be trusted and who to be shunned.
Even before the giant rumble a Circle has formed in Cor. Today this Clan is known as the "Lower Circle", back then it was known simply as "The Circle". It was a giant accumulation of cats that tried to survive in the harsh surroundings. Hel and Lihan, as their Guardians, as their protectors felt it was their duty to make sure the cats lived in peace. There would be no bad blood between them.
Sadly only Hel seemed to hold onto this promise in the very end. He chose four cats and took them in as his students. These cats were to someday become the new guardians and their job would be to protect its people. Lihan didn't like that. Especially Astar and Lihan would always argue and fight, even if the younger tom cat tried to hold onto his promise of peace.
Lihan thought that Hel tried to replace them as guardians, though his brother tried to take his power from him. The very thing he loved more than anything else. He wanted to continue being worshiped like the god he was - at least in his perspective - and he wouldn't be able to do it if there would be four new guardians skipping around.
Gods weren't just chosen. They were born. Hel and himself were born just naturally stronger and better than everyone else and Lihan couldn't comprehend that Hel didn't want to keep this power to himself.
One thing to know about the guardians is that they’re not gods even if their powers and their position within the Circle comes close to being one.
After the battle in which both Hel and Lihan lost their lives, Astar too lost his. But laying there right beside some two “gods” his body changed.
Inside the very holy cave that today is marked as a sacred place, Astar was reborn.
His injuries healed and his eye color changed. The formerly blue eyes changed into the very colors the deceased guardians wore. One yellow and one green.
Astar doesn’t like to talk about this day, too much grief is connected to it. But the cats of Cor saw it as a sign. A sign that their guardians will never truly leave Cor behind and continue to protect it with all their might. If only the other three students of Hel were here to see it…
