Assistant Professor Nutrition and Dietetics
Al Shifa College of Arts and Science
Hello! I’m Sajla Mol, a dedicated post-graduate in Nutrition and Dietetics with a passion for education and a strong commitment to student success. After qualifying for the National Eligibility Test (NET), I have gained valuable experience as a dietitian and educator.
Currently, I work as Assistant Professor in Nutrition and Dietetics at Al Shifa College of Arts and Science in Keezhattur. I also worked as a dietitian at Maanu Memorial Hospital in Manjeri, where I apply my nutrition expertise to improve patient care. I also serve as a freelance content writer for Madhyamam Online and as a faculty member at C-Tune PSC Coaching Centre, where I specialize in creating engaging lesson plans and delivering lectures designed to inspire and educate students.
I have participated in various professional training programs to enhance my teaching skills and knowledge. In January 2020, I attended a two-day Trainer Platform Skills (Basic) Train the Trainer Program conducted at the Maria Rani Centre in Trivandrum. This training was a significant step in refining my ability to design and deliver effective educational content.
Additionally, I completed a one-month training under the Medical Nutrition Department at Aster MIMS, Calicut in 2016. This experience provided me with hands-on knowledge in nutrition counseling and patient management, which I now integrate into my teaching materials to offer students real-world applications.
In October 2009, I also participated in a Personality Development Program conducted by the Kerala State Women’s Development Corporation Limited and the Centre for Management Development. This training helped me develop strong communication and leadership skills, essential for effective teaching and student interaction.
I am an active member of two key professional organizations that keep me updated with the latest trends and research in the field of nutrition:
Indian Dietetic Association (IDA)
Nutrition Society of India (NSI)
Being part of these associations allows me to engage in continuous learning and stay informed about advancements in nutrition and dietetics, which I incorporate into my teaching to ensure that students receive the most current and relevant knowledge.
As part of my academic journey, I completed my thesis titled "A Study on Risk Factors and Complications in Hyperuricemia". This research gave me a deep understanding of nutrition-related health issues, which I share with students to provide them with insights into the real-world application of nutritional science. My research experience enhances my ability to teach critical thinking and data analysis, helping students build strong academic foundations in the field.
I have attended several national conferences that have contributed significantly to my teaching approach and content:
NSI National Conference
In November 2016, I participated in the NSI National Conference held at St. John’s Research Institute, Bengaluru. This event provided me with valuable insights into the latest research and developments in nutrition, which I incorporate into my lessons to ensure students are learning cutting-edge information.
National Conference on Recent Trends in Adolescent Nutrition and Reproductive Health Care
On 4th and 5th February 2016, I attended the National Conference on Recent Trends in Adolescent Nutrition and Reproductive Health Care held at Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. This conference focused on adolescent health, a topic I actively include in my teaching curriculum to educate students on the importance of early nutrition and its long-term impact on health.
