HOW TO HELP DYSLEXIC STUDENTS IN THE LANGUAGE CLASSROOM
course overview
During this course, you will get a complete understanding of what dyslexia is, and how it affects learning.
You will become familiar with techniques to assist dyslexic students in the classroom. In particular the methodology discussed in the course will be suitable to teach a second language to dyslexic students.
METHODOLOGY
By the end of the course you will learn the basic approaches to help dyslexic students to become both successful language learners and more confident with the practical didactic strategies; furthermore you will get practical ideas to create an inclusive environment for dyslexic students in their educational context.
A guided city tour or a one day excursion will be also part of the programme.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of the course, each participant should be able to:
become more familiar with the Italian Education System and Italian culture
learn how to recognise the traits of dyslexia and make an early diagnosis
encourage communication between school and families to increase motivation and self-esteem for pupils and teachers.
build up effective cognitive and metacognitive strategies
improve teaching and learning skills addressed to students with dyslexia.
evaluate and reuse different classroom teaching and learning strategies in one’s own context.
Share experiences and expertise with teachers from other european countries to develop a professional group network.
promote European cooperation in the field of education within the framework of the Erasmus+ program by partnership building
