Effective date: July 6, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how AppForge (“we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information when you use the Assistive Edge mobile application (com.assistiveedge.touchpanel), hereinafter referred to as the "App".
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use the App.

Assistive Edge is an Android utility that provides a customizable edge sidebar, a floating AssistiveTouch quick-actions menu, gestures, and optional productivity tools.
No Ads & No Tracking: We do not sell your data, do not show advertisements, and do not use third-party advertising or behavioral analytics trackers.
No Accounts: No user registration or account creation is required to use the App.
When you use the App, we may automatically send limited, non-personal device and application information to our backend (Google Firebase / Cloud Firestore) in the background. This is strictly used to understand installs, app versions, and basic device compatibility. We do not ask for, or link this to, your name or email.
This data may include:
Device Details: Device model, Android OS version, language, timezone, and approximate country (derived from device/SIM settings, not GPS).
App Details: App version, and whether the App was installed via the Google Play Store or sideloaded.
Device Status: Battery level, charging status, and internal storage usage (used vs. total space).
Timestamps: Server-side timestamps of your first and last app activity.
Note on Device Identification: We assign a random, anonymized identifier stored locally on your device to recognize repeat sessions. We do not collect your name, email, phone number, contacts, photos, notification content, precise location, IP address, network names (Wi‑Fi/carrier), or Android device advertising IDs.
We explicitly do not collect, store, or transmit the following data:
Personal identifiers (name, email, phone number, etc., unless you email us directly).
Precise GPS location data.
Photos, videos, or notification message content.
Passwords, keystrokes, personal messages, or on-screen text.
IP addresses for tracking or profiling purposes.
Cross-app browsing histories or advertising profiles.
To provide its core features, the App processes certain data strictly on your device. This information is never transmitted to our servers:
App Settings: Your custom sidebar layouts, AssistiveTouch panels, pinned apps, gestures, and preferences are saved locally.
Installed Apps: The App reads your device's package names and icons solely to let you choose and launch apps via the sidebar.
Foreground App (Optional): If you enable the Accessibility Service, the App detects which package is currently in the foreground to handle auto-close, home-screen-only mode, and fullscreen detection.
Notifications (Optional): If granted Notification Access, the App checks which apps have active notifications (package names only) to display badges. It never reads message text, images, or sender details.
System Shortcuts: "Display over other apps" is required to render the floating panels. Camera/Flashlight shortcuts trigger system features manually at your request; we never capture or store photos.
The Accessibility Service API is completely optional and must be explicitly enabled by you within Android System Settings.
Purpose: We use this service solely to support core utility features, overlay behaviors, and user-configured shortcuts (such as performing "Back", "Recents", "Screenshot", or "Split-Screen" actions).
Privacy Guarantee: We do not use the Accessibility Service to monitor your screen, read passwords, intercept private messages, or collect any text for advertising/profiling. You can revoke this permission at any time via Android Settings → Accessibility.
No Commercial Sharing: We do not sell, trade, or share your information with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
Service Providers: Your anonymous install and device info is securely stored in Google Firebase (Firestore), operated by Google LLC. Google processes this data in accordance with its own privacy policies.
Legal Disclosure: We may disclose information only if strictly required by law or to protect rights, safety, and application security.
Retention: On-device data remains until you clear the app cache or uninstall. Backend compatibility records are retained for a reasonable period, then deleted or fully anonymized. Support emails are kept only as long as needed to resolve your inquiry.
You maintain full control over your data:
Manage Permissions: You can revoke individual permissions, Accessibility access, or Notification access at any time via Android System Settings.
Local Deletion: You can wipe all local settings by going to Settings → Apps → Assistive Edge → Storage → Clear Data.
Anonymization: Clearing app data or uninstalling completely destroys your local random identifier. If you reinstall, a completely new ID is generated, meaning we cannot link new usage to past records.
Backend Requests: For requests regarding any backend compatibility data, contact us at appforge231@gmail.com.
Children's Privacy: The App is not directed toward or intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
California Privacy (CCPA): We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.\
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to safeguard your information, though no digital system is 100% secure.
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the Effective date at the top. Your continued use of the App following updates constitutes acceptance of those changes.
