Dr. Animesh Chakravarthy is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Texas, Arlington. He has expertise in the areas of guidance and control of flight vehicles, and is the Director of the Guidance and Control of Autonomous Systems Laboratory. He received his Ph.D. in Aeronautics/Astronautics from MIT in 2007. After his Ph.D., he was a research scientist at the University of Florida, where he worked in collaboration with researchers at AFRL, Eglin Air Force Base. He was then a faculty at Wichita State University during 2011-18, before moving to UT Arlington in Fall 2018. Dr. Chakravarthy is a recipient of an NSF CAREER Award and was a Summer Faculty Fellow at AFRL, Eglin in 2014. In 2018, he received a Rising Star Award from the University of Texas system. In 2020, he was elected as an Associate Fellow of the AIAA. His research has been funded by NSF, NASA, AFRL, ARO and FAA.
