Aspen Hill Area Parents & Guardians was formed in 2021 by residents of the community who felt that our area was lacking a comprehensive organization / association to help connect families with children.
Several other areas of Montgomery County have hyperlocal moms/parents groups. As of Spring 2021, our Aspen Hill area seemed to be lacking a well publicized parents' organization of its own, and we wanted to remedy that -- knowing that the more resources that exist to support and connect all parents in the community, the better off the kids!
Our mission is simply to improve the quality of life for all children and their families living in and around Aspen Hill, Maryland.
Our Core Belief and Vision:
All children deserve to feel that they belong fully to the community in which they grow up. This is deeper than just having a group of friends; not everyone has an easy time making friends, and friendships don’t always stay the same or last over time. This is about having an entire diverse community — a microcosm of society — as the solid ground under your feet, a community of families coming together as one that you can always rely on to be there for you while you (a child) navigate growing up.
It Takes a Village to Raise a Child In and Around Aspen Hill, Maryland
"It takes a village to raise a child" is an African proverb that means that an entire community of people must interact with children for those children to experience and grow in a safe and healthy environment. (Source: Wikipedia). This belief is at the core of our organization.
