OBJECTIVE: Students will explore various geographical locations while critically listening to the music featured in the concert and create a field journal.
SUMMARY: Students will apply map skills to analyzing places on a map that are featured in the concert's musical journey. Students will also use narrative writing skills to respond to the musical pieces associated with each landscape on the field journey.
GRADES: 4 - 8

- What does this tell you about how geography influences music?
- Which piece of music resonated with you the most and why? Did it remind you of a personal memory, place, or feeling?”
- Have students create a short poem, storyboard, or collage that captures their “musical journey” across all four regions.
- Consider additional creative applications for your field journal:
- If you were curating a concert for your community, how might you use what you’ve learned about geography and music to select pieces and design the program?”
