Efficiency of Your AC this Summer
Australia has lovely long summers with temperatures that can comfortably soar into the mid 30s (degrees Celsius), but retreating to a gloriously cool air conditioned home after being out in the humid heat of the day is often just what the customer wanted. In periods of oppressive humidity, using an air conditioner can be a lifesaver. What isn't so welcome is the increase in your electricity bill that can result from inappropriate air conditioner usage.
You will prolong the life of your air conditioner by installing Air Conditioning Installation Accessories from a reputable company and also through professional’s assistance. Now let's return to the air conditioner efficiency tips.
6 ways to make effective use of your air conditioner
1. Stabilize the temperature
Rather than making the air conditioner work hard to pump out such cold air, set it to a stable temperature of 18-21°C. This will always make your home comfortable, but your air conditioner will not have to work as hard to keep it that way.
2. Try Fan Mode Mostly
Try using your unit's fan mode on days where it's warm but not oppressively so. Although the fan will not deliver air as cold as the cooling atmosphere, the breeze will be more soothing and less expensive than operating the cooling system indefinitely.
3.Use only in time of need
It's easy to get used to the instant relaxation that it offers, but it definitely worth assessing whether you need to turn it on if you want to use it effectively.
4.Less Use of Auto Mode
When the system is in default mode, it acts to keep the temperature constant, so it heats it back up when your bedroom is too cold to keep the initial warm, vice versa. Instead, set the temperature to a maximum efficiency between 18-21°C.
5. Reinforce the filters
Ideally, every two weeks or at least once a month you can clean your filters. This can be done by removal, vacuuming or wiping the filters with soapy water by shutting off the machine at the wall. Once the filters are completely dry, replace and restart the unit.
6.Check your vents for ducted Heat Pump
If you have a ducted heat pump, you need to keep it ineffective. Before starting using the air conditioner, you can ensure that the ventilations are open and operate properly. Also you can check wiring of your AC and make sure hard drawn copper wires are used in place of aluminium wires to increase the efficiency and longevity of your unit.
