ASMPT Technology Award 2024
Objective
To recognize and reward students with outstanding Final Year Projects which demonstrate excellence in technology and innovation.
Eligibility
Competition Structure
2 selected individual / group projects from each invited university are nominated and submitted by the respective faculty to the ASMPT judging panel for preliminary screening on or before May 17, 2024 (Fri). The work must be original.
On June 21, 2024, candidates will be invited to present their project content and details in person, the project rationale and methods used, difficulties encountered, solutions adopted and theories used shall be discussed. Presentations should be in English and limited to 20 minutes each. Afterwards, there would be 10 minutes Q&A Sessions for judges to raise questions. The presentations will be held in the format of a conference where candidates can make use of prototypes, posters or other materials to portray and visualize their project content.
The final results will be announced on the same day after the presentation session.

Focus on Engineering and Technology-related/ Science-related field
No other limitations and preferences are specified
Submission Format
All nominated projects are required to be submitted with a short paper in extended abstract format (PDF file) by the faculty to the judging panel. The Project Extended Abstract should be a maximum 6 pages in length and include:
A description of the project focus and proposed solution, with a summary of the approaches taken within the design process, the real-life problems that the team is solving, and the main claims for the proposed solution with evaluation results
Reference to design principles, sources of inspiration, and relevance
Acknowledgement of partial or incomplete solutions
Acknowledgement of any assistance drawn from outside the student team (advisors, faculty, domain experts, existing solutions, users, etc.)
Judgment Criteria
The project and presentation will be judged by:
Technical performance and project quality
Creativity, quality & originality
Applicability and practicability
Application of technology
Clear communication of key areas, approaches & arguments
Clarity and organization of presentation
Relevance and clarity of presentation materials
Team dynamics (for group-based submission)
The panel of judges will consist of senior professionals and experts from ASMPT, invited academic staff from universities and also industry practitioners.

Project Nomination Award
Each nominated final year project will be awarded HK$5,000 (not applicable to Gold/Silver/Bronze Award Winners)
Award Winners
Gold Award: HK$30,000 with Certificate of Merit
Silver Award: HK$20,000 with Certificate of Merit
Bronze Award: HK$10,000 with Certificate of Merit
Winning Institutes
The home institutes of the Gold, Silver and Bronze Award winners will respectively receive cash donations of HK$100,000, HK$50,000 and HK$30,000 as ASMPT Scholarships to its students with outstanding academic results.
