So the way I'm looking at it, the driver installed is much newer and since the other one would not install using the manual install method, it is not the right driver for your docking station's USB 3.1 controller.

Quickly chiming in to say thanks for posting this. A friend was trying to get his Oculus Link working with Quest 2 and we tried many steps but this was the one (specially uninstalling the driver through Add/Remove Programs) that made it work after we found he had the ASMedia USB controller.
