AMAZON SUSTAINABLE LANDSCAPES PROGRAM

Annual Conference, November 17 and 18, 2021

An expanded space for collaboration and learning for the Amazon

The Amazon Sustainable Landscapes Program (ASL) is the GEF-funded regional initiative that seeks to improve integrated landscape management and ecosystem conservation in priority areas of the Amazon in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru and Suriname. The central environmental agencies of each country lead the implementation of the respective projects, and multiple public and private institutions co-execute the projects, along with civil society and community organizations. The World Bank is the coordinating agency for the Program and, together with WWF, CAF, FAO and UNDP, supports countries in the preparation and monitoring of national projects. ASL also includes a regional project that promotes coordination and exchange of experiences.

CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES

  • Launch the second phase of the ASL program.

  • Exchange of knowledge and experiences between ASL1 and ASL2 projects and partners (progress/plans/goals).

  • Identify methods and ways to promote future exchanges and collaborations through the regional project.

  • Strengthen the sense of community among all ASL members.
