Dr. Heo's main research interests include control of air pollution, airborne particle measurement, air filtration, and detection and inactivation of airborne microorganisms.

Dr. Heo is currently focused on the formation of functionalized nanoparticles and the development of practical antimicrobial strategies using them to address the threat of infectious microorganisms including bioaerosols.
