The Griffin Gazette is the award-winning, student-run newspaper produced by Los Alamitos High School’s journalism class. Founded in 1969, the Griffin Chronicle was discontinued for two years and revived in 2022 as the Griffin Gazette. The 2022-2023 staff is comprised of two editors-in-chief, Adalie Landa and Sofia Youngs, 15 staff writers, and Los Al’s journalism advisor, Mrs. Franzen.
The Orange County Deaf Equal Access Foundation, better known as OC-DEAF, was established in 1979 as an outreach office of the Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness, Inc. (GLAD).
The mission of the Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness, Inc. (GLAD) is to ensure equal access of the deaf, hard of hearing, deafblind, and deaf disabled community to the same opportunities afforded their hearing counterparts.
Since 2006, ASLHS has been a valued addition to the field of ASL education. Our primary mission is to encourage and recognize high academic achievement in ASL studies for high school and college/university students. Like honor societies for other languages, the ASLHS seeks to enrich the learning experience of those studying ASL.
The National Association of the Deaf (NAD) is the nation’s premier civil rights organization of, by and for deaf and hard of hearing individuals in the United States of America. Established in 1880, the NAD was shaped by deaf leaders who believed in the right of the American deaf community to use sign language, to congregate on issues important to them, and to have its interests represented at the national level... The NAD is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization supported by the generosity of individual and organizational donors, including corporations and foundations.
THE GIRL SCOUT GOLD AWARD IS THE HIGHEST ACHEIVEMENT IN GIRL SCOUTS OF THE USA. EARNED BY SENIOR AND AMBASSADOR RANKED GIRL SCOUTS, HIGH SCHOOLERS, ONLY 5.4 PERCENT OF ELIGIBLE GIRL SCOUTS EARN THE AWARD.
GIRLS LOOK AT THEIR COMMUNITY IDENTIFYING PROBLEMS AND ROOT CAUSES, CREATING PLANS TO SUSTANIBLE ADDRESS THEM. BY ADDRESSING THESE PROBLEMS AROUND THEM GOLD AWARD GIRL SCOUTS LEAD TEAMS AND STRIVE TO MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE.
