My name is Anubis, and I am the host of Asking Anubis, a radio talk show and advice hotline for anyone who has questions or concerns about the end of their days. If you look at the image above, I'm on the right. That's my brother Horus on the left. But let's get back to the point.
I'm your source on all things about death and the underworld. After all, I'm the one who will open the doors necessary for your soul to arrive in the afterlife when the time comes. I know a thing or two about what happens after you die.
But you don't. In fact, lots of people don't. So, I'm here to answer all of your questions, assuage your fears, and even give advice, if necessary. I try not to give too much personal advice, though, because that leads to sticky situations and conflicts of interest. So I'll stick to answering questions mostly.
Now that I've explained my qualifications, I'll share a little bit more about me. I'm one of the gods of Egypt, but don't let that intimidate you. I really do want to help clear up the fear and murkiness about "life" after death. I suppose I should warn you that I look a little different from most people. I'd say I'm a pretty average guy, but I do have the head of a jackal. That's a little unique. But don't let that intimidate you either. The Egyptians knew me as the god of embalming and the dead, and I spend most of my time in the underworld. They had a lot of names for me, like "Lord of the Sacred Land" or "Master of Secrets," but you can just call me Anubis.
One more thing you need to know about me is that I have a lot of family. Some would say too much, in fact. Sometimes with a lot of family members, it gets a little murky on how we're all related, and it's especially confusing for me. I'm not quite sure who my parents are. Sometimes I'm from a single-parent family where Ra is my father. (That scarab in the middle of the photo is often used to represent him.) Sometimes I have a single mom named Bast who has the head of a cat. Other times I'm from a full and happy family where my parents are Osiris and Isis, and my brother is Horus. And of course there's my uncle or brother Set. Set's the only one in the family who's more of a black sheep than I am. Here's some advice for you: watch out for Set.
If you continue through this site, you'll be able to read transcripts of calls from a diverse set of listeners, from as far away as Japan to as close as my own family. The local calls tend to get messier, but audiences tend to love a little bit of drama so my producer "encouraged" me to share them with you anyways. I hope you enjoy them all, and that they help bring you peace during these dark days.
