Biography

Stylianos (Stelios) D. Asimonis serves as a Lecturer (equivalent to Assistant Professor) at the School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Science at Queen’s University Belfast, UK. He completed his Diploma (equivalent to a Master's degree, spanning 5 years) and Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. His career has included positions such as Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Macedonia in Greece, and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Technical University of Crete, Greece, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and the Centre for Wireless Innovation (CWI) at Queen's University Belfast.

Asimonis specialises in research on Wireless Sensing, Electromagnetic Surfaces, RF Energy Harvesting, and Antenna design, with a notable publication record in prestigious journals. 

In recognition of his scholarly achievements, Dr Asimonis was honoured with the Post-Doctoral Scholarship for Excellence by the Research Committee of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2012 and by the Centre for Wireless Innovation (CWI) at Queen's University Belfast, UK, in 2016. Additionally, he received accolades such as the 3rd place Best Paper Award at Metamaterials 2013, finalist recognition in the 2014 IEEE RFID-TA Best Student Paper Competition, and the third prize in the 2015 5th COST IC1301 Workshop Best Student Paper Award.
