Biography

Stylianos (Stelios) D. Asimonis is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Patras, Greece. From 2019 to 2024 he served as a Lecturer (equivalent to Assistant Professor) at the School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Science at Queen’s University Belfast, UK. Dr. Asimonis holds a Diploma (equivalent to a Master's degree, spanning 5 years) and a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. His professional experience includes roles such as Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Macedonia, Greece, and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Technical University of Crete, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and the Centre for Wireless Innovation (CWI) at Queen's University Belfast.

Dr. Asimonis’s research focuses on RF Engineering, Electromagnetic Surfaces, and Antenna Design, with a strong publication record in respected journals.

He has been recognized for his academic achievements with several awards, including the Post-Doctoral Scholarship for Excellence by the Research Committee of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2012 and by the Centre for Wireless Innovation (CWI) at Queen's University Belfast, UK, in 2016. Additionally, he received the 3rd place Best Paper Award at Metamaterials 2013, finalist recognition in the 2014 IEEE RFID-TA Best Student Paper Competition, and third prize in the 2015 5th COST IC1301 Workshop Best Student Paper Award.
