• Facilitating budget planning, overseeing and monitoring the department budget. Budget tasks are to be performed with the input and consultation of the elected department Budget Advisory Committee. 

• Coordinating course schedules that facilitate student progress, helping faculty manage their time efficiently, and balancing teaching loads across the department. 

• Supervising faculty and staff, including faculty recruitment, support, and mentoring.

• Encouraging and facilitating development of a shared vision and strategic plan for the department, and working to promote them. Encouraging shared governance.

• Facilitating the planning, revising, and implementing of changes in graduate academic programs. 

• Representing, promoting, and supporting the faculty and program at all levels.

• Communicating College and University issues accurately and completely to the department. 

• Creating and fostering a work environment that encourages faculty and staff productivity, satisfaction, and high morale.
