Hi ! I'm Ashwin Ram

I'm a postdoctoral researcher in the HCI & Interactive Technologies Lab at Saarland University working with Prof. Jürgen Steimle.

I completed my PhD in Computer Science from the National University of Singapore advised by Prof. Shengdong Zhao and my Bachelor’s in Electronics engineering from NIT-Trichy.

My research is centered on HCI and wearable computing. I am particularly interested in how wearable displays (smart glasses) can be designed to offer a more seamless computing experience than traditional mobile phones. For this, I use insights from cognitive & behavioral theories to develop intelligent interfaces and interactions for wearable displays. Through my research, I aim to redefine our daily computing experiences.

Other things about me....

Apart from research, I'm into learning new languages. I'm proficient in Malayalam, Tamil, and English, and have elementary capabilities in Hindi, French, and German. I'm also passionate about music. I've learnt Carnatic singing in my childhood and I play the guitar, and compose music in my free time.
