Board + Educators = Better Decisions

Our teachers and staff are closest to our students every day. Their experience and perspective should be part of the conversation when we're making decisions that affect classrooms. 

I want to help foster a relationship between the School Board and educators built on respect, communication, and collaboration. 

Families deserve to understand the "why."

People don't expect every decision to go their way.

But they should be able to understand how the decision was made, what information was considered, and why the district believes it's the right choice. I want families to feel heard, not just informed after the fact.

Every dollar matters.

Our district is facing real financial challenges, including enrollment changes and difficult budget decisions. I believe responsible budgeting means looking beyond the immediate year and asking:

• What is sustainable?

• What are we prioritizing?

• What are we giving up?

• Are we getting the results we expected?

• Are we using our resources where they have the greatest impact on students?

We need to make thoughtful decisions today without creating bigger problems tomorrow.

We don't have to choose between data and people.

Research matters.

So does lived experience.

When making significant decisions, I believe the district should use the best available data and listen to the families, students, and staff who will experience the impact.

I don't think decisions should be made simply because "that's how we've always done it" or because "we already changed it."

Good decisions should be informed by evidence and community input.

Every student deserves the opportunity to thrive.

Our students have different strengths, interests, challenges, and needs.

I want us to continue looking at how we provide equitable access to the resources and opportunities that help students succeed, including academics, arts, music, activities, and other programs that help make a well-rounded education.
