Why Am I Running?

I didn't wake up one morning and decide I wanted to be a politician.Honestly, "politician" isn't a word I would use to describe myself at all.I'm a parent. I'm a volunteer. I'm a neighbor. I'm someone who has spent years showing up for our schools and our community.And the more involved I've become, the more I've realized how important our School Board's decisions are to the everyday lives of students, families, and staff.I've seen the passion our community has for our schools. I've also heard concerns about communication, finances, staffing, programs, schedules, and the direction of our district.I don't think every concern has an easy answer.But I do believe we deserve leaders who will:Listen before deciding.
Ask questions before accepting answers.
Look at the data.
Consider the impact on families and staff.
And communicate openly about how and why decisions are made.That's the kind of board member I want to be. Everything that is done has to be with the thought of our students first.

I'm a parent in the Stillwater Area School District, a longtime school volunteer, and someone who has spent years working alongside other parents to make our schools and community better.

For the past five years, I've had the privilege of serving as Chair of our elementary parent group, helping oversee fundraising, budgeting, events, and programs that directly support students and families.

I've also had the opportunity to serve on the district's Community Finance Committee, which has given me an even closer look at the financial challenges and decisions facing our district.

I'm not running because I think I have all the answers.

I'm running because I care enough to ask the questions.
