If needed, the automated system will be removed and the Highland Weather Team will be live on-air covering the warning until it expires. If not, our automated system will take over.

Our automated system is always monitoring the Western Carolina's, Northeast Georgia, & 3 counties in East Tennessee, and will announce:

• New Weather Warnings: Tornado warnings are given top priority and announced immediately. All other weather alerts are shown through the entire cycle.

• Priority Updates: We constantly cycle through the most critical warnings to keep you informed. Severe Thunderstorm, Tornado, & Flash Flood Warnings will make the text-to-speech voice come on-air, automatically covering the warnings until they expire.

• 0-30: Mostly Quiet - Minimal 

• 30-50: Some Activity - Team monitoring

• 50-70: Notable Weather - Standby mode likely

• 70-100: Significant Events - Team often going live

• 100-150: Multiple Areas Impacted - Full team coverage mode

• 150-250: Major Outbreak - All hands on deck

• 250-350: Extreme Event - Continuous live coverage

• 350+: Potentially Historic - Event (scores above 500 have occurred)
