I am Ashante Johnson-Pope. After graduating from Rutgers University with a Criminal Justice degree in 2021, I've become a congressional staffer in NJ's 9th and 10th Congressional Districts. I speak on behalf of my member of Congress. I am currently an outreach manager for NJ's 10th Congressional District, with Rep. Lamonica McIver, and previously was a field representative and staffer for Congressman Bill Pascrell until his death. I am a creative writer, storyteller, poet and speaker. I have been invited to speak at several political events over the last few years, such as Governor Phil Murphy's gun violence campaign(2x), the late Congressman Bill Pascrell's district events, and a county wide rally on the death of George Floyd to name a few. I have delivered messages for diversity, equity and inclusion events, and I have also been invited to speak at many church and community events as well, which has hosted thousands of people. I've spoken alongside notable people all over NJ and I've been recognized by the NJ Governor; Phil Murphy, Passaic County chairman; John Currie, Congressman Pascrell, and more on different occasions. I have written a poem that's been dedicated to the women in NJ government in 2024. A fun fact about me, is that I am a woman who wears two hearing aids. I have been diagnosed with severe hearing loss at the young age of five. Even with my disability, I have jumped many hurdles and overcome great obstacles. nothing is impossible to achieve!
