Asei Ito

I am an Associate Professor at the Institute of Social Science at the University of Tokyo. I obtained his Ph.D. in Economics from the Graduate School of Economics, Keio University. My research covers various topics related to Chinese economy including industrial development, outward FDI activities, innovation, and the political economy. 

I am one of the editors of China’s Outward Investment Data (Institute of Social Science, the University of Tokyo, 2014) and The Asian Economy: Contemporary Issues and Challenges (Routledge, 2020). I received academic prizes, including the Yomiuri-Yoshino Sakuzo Prize. 

Currently I am a visiting scholar at the Programs on US-Japan Relations, Weatherhead Center for International Affiars, Harvard University.
