Taiwan has designated "next-generation communications" and strengthening global resilient communications networks as key national industries. The 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) has also prioritized resilient communications technology. 6G resilient network research aims to address the dual challenges of physical and network resilience, ensuring that future communications systems can maintain the normal operation of core services even in the event of disruptions or challenges.
However, the development of 6G resilient communication technology faces multiple challenges. For example:
⚫ Currently, there is a lack of a heterogeneous network integration system test platform that integrates artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), edge computing, and satellite communications to conduct comprehensive end-to-end resilience testing and verification.
⚫ 6G networks need to process data from different layers, including core AI, edge AI, and device AI. A cross-layer AI data analysis platform is required to effectively analyze large amounts of heterogeneous data.
⚫ 6G networks need to be able to dynamically allocate and deploy heterogeneous resources to meet varying application requirements and network conditions. This requires advanced resource management technologies and a flexible network architecture.
This research leverages AI/ML technologies, multi-modal sensing, and dynamic resource allocation to develop the FAITH Resilient RAN platform, centered on "End-to-End Resilience."
The platform's key features include:
1. Flexible Self-Adaptation: Enabling real-time network adjustments to adapt to environmental changes.
2. AI-Native Multi-Tier Data Analysis: Enhancing Cross-Layer Intelligent Data Analysis and Prediction.
3. Trustworthy Dynamic Networks Authentication: Providing trustworthy authentication in dynamic network topology.
4. Holistic all frequency anytime anyplace: Achieving seamless connectivity across all conditions.
Funded by the National Security Technology Commission (NSTC), the project officially launched in August 2025 and aims to build a FAITH-Resilient RAN platform centered around end-to-end resiliency.
