Emmett Tyler Aschim II
Emmett Tyler Aschim II
I am a composer and guitarist working at the intersection of acoustic and electronic sound. My work is driven by an interest in the timbre, and physicality of the the ways sound behaves when it is pushed to its theoretical limits. I often treat instruments and technologies as unstable systems, exploring friction between control and unpredictability through extended techniques, live electronics, and performer-centered processes. Drawing equally from compositional research and hands-on performance practice, I approach music as a site of inquiry rather than a fixed object. My pieces invite close listening and embodied engagement, prioritizing texture, process, and material presence over narrative or spectacle. I aim to create spaces where sound can be experienced as volatile yet infinite
