The Stations of the Cross is a practice that invites us to follow in the steps of Jesus of Nazareth along the Via Dolorosa (the Way of the Cross). While there are traditionally fourteen stations, our church has observed eight stations, starting at Jesus being condemned to death and ending at his burial.
Each year, artists attending Church of the Ascension - all ages, all levels of experience - are invited to create the Stations of the Cross. Typically, these stations are created during the first 2 hours of our Good Friday service, and then processed during the third hour. In both 2020 and 2021, due to the Pandemic, artists crafted their station at home.
