The mission of the Asian Society for Colloid and Surface Science (ASCASS) is to advance the field of colloid and interface science through the promotion of scientific research, collaboration, and knowledge exchange across Asia. We aim to:
Foster Regional and International Collaboration: ASCASS provides a platform for scientists, researchers, and professionals from across Asia to collaborate and share knowledge. We also work closely with national societies and international organizations to ensure the global exchange of scientific expertise in colloid and surface science.
Support Young Scientists: ASCASS is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of scientists by providing mentorship, networking opportunities, and support for young researchers, enabling them to contribute to the advancement of the field.
Promote Interdisciplinary Research: We particularly emphasize the importance of interdisciplinary research, integrating the principles of physics, chemistry, and biology to address complex challenges in colloid and surface science.
Advance Applied Science and Innovation: By fostering cooperation between academia and industry, ASCASS encourages the translation of scientific research into practical applications that benefit society, elevate technological progress, and improve the quality of life.
ASCASS is committed to striving as a key force in the ongoing development and application of colloid and surface science in Asia and beyond.

The expanding interest in Colloid and Interface Science across Asia led to the formation of a platform for scientists to engage in in-depth discussions and foster regional scientific collaboration. In response to this growing need, the Asian Society for Colloid and Surface Science (ASCASS) was established in 2004 during the “International Conference on Soft Matter” in Kolkata, India. The founding of ASCASS marked a pivotal step in promoting the exchange of scientific knowledge and encouraging collaboration among scientists from different countries in Asia.
Since its inception, ASCASS has played a central role in advancing colloid and surface science in the region. The Society has grown to include members from many Asian countries and coordinates 9 regional societies, representing China, India, Japan, Korea, Pakistan, Malaysia, Russia, Taiwan, and Thailand. Through this network, ASCASS has fostered a strong spirit of regional cooperation and knowledge sharing, contributing to the progress and application of colloid and surface science on a global scale.
ASCASS has organized biennial International Conferences since 2005, which have become key events for scientists, researchers, and professionals in the fields of colloid and nano science. Each conference has attracted over 800 academic and professional experts, providing a platform for the exchange of ideas, advancements, and innovations in these dynamic fields.
Today, ASCASS remains committed to supporting scientific research, promoting regional cooperation, and advancing the development and application of colloid and surface science. It continues to provide valuable opportunities for networking, collaboration, and professional growth, with a particular focus on encouraging the participation of young scientists.
Participants of the ACCIS conference will automatically be considered as having paid the current ASCASS membership fee and will become members of ASCASS for the current term.
