I am interested in the interaction between surface water and groundwater known as the "hyporheic zone" in rivers and riverbeds. I want to investigate the variations in riverbed topography and material, and how these variations affect the hyporheic zone. My research will include geophysical surveying and inverse modelling to help gain more knowledge of this hydrological process. My research is motivated by the importance of water security for humans and the environment. I am currently working as an MS student at the University of Wyoming for Dr. Dario Grana.
I grew up in Western North Carolina with a deep love for the outdoors and a drive to learn more about the natural world. After high school, I moved to Boone, North Carolina and studied at Appalachian State University, graduating in 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in environmental science and a minor in Geology. I became interested in Geophysics and the role it plays in understanding hydrologic processes during my undergraduate degree. This interest prompted me to find Dr. Dario Grana, whose specific specialization in rock physics and inversion problems piqued my interest. I have since been accepted to work as a master's student for Dr. Dario Grana at the University of Wyoming.
In my spare time, I enjoy partaking in mountain sports like rock climbing and snowboarding. I also love to travel on new trails to enjoy the beautiful landscapes that this world has gifted us. I enjoy photography, and home film development. My favorite subjects to photograph are rocky landscapes.
