A clarity exercise for seeing how your life and work connect
This is an invitation to step back and look at the whole of your current life or work to see it more clearly.
Clarity does not always come from choosing less. Often, it comes from understanding how things relate.
There is no right way to complete this map. You may move slowly, and you may return to it more than once.
You may even notice things that surprise you.
Every universe has a center.
Not a goal or a destination, but a source of gravity.
Take a moment to reflect on the question below. Write what feels true, not what sounds impressive.
What question, theme, or tension is everything in my life currently orbiting?
This may be a season of rebuilding: a period of transition, a search for stability, a desire for expression, a need for rest.
Name your center as honestly as you can.
Around that center are the worlds you are inhabiting right now. These may include roles, projects, identities, responsibilities, or creative pursuits.
Some worlds may feel active and alive, while others feel quiet, or unresolved.
List the worlds that are currently present in your life.
As you write them down, notice which ones feel connected to the center and which feel distant.
Now look at your map as a whole. You're not being asked to fix anything, only to notice relationships:
Which worlds naturally support one another?
Which feel in tension?
Which exist in isolation?
Often, clarity emerges simply by seeing what has been hidden in plain sight.
Every universe changes over time, and while some worlds complete their purpose, others drift out of alignment.
Holding onto worlds out of obligation can create unnecessary friction. Gently reflect on this question:
What no longer belongs in the universe I am building now?
There is no need to force a decision. Awareness is enough, for what is seen cannot be unseen.
Return to the center of your map.
With everything you have noticed, complete this sentence in your own words:
Clarity for me right now means protecting ___________.
This is your north star. You've found your orientation.
You can return to this map, and re-do this exercise whenever your life feels full but fragmented. You don't need to shrink your life to make it coherent.
You only need a way to see clearly what's already there.
