Students may work individually or in teams. For those in the K–3 category, there is no restriction on the size of the team. For other categories, the maximum number of students per team is four.
For teams with members from different grade levels, the highest grade determines the entry category.
Posters measure between 18 and 24 inches high and 24 and 30 inches wide.
You will upload a photo/image file of a physical poster or a PDF file of a digitally created poster.
If creating a digital poster, please follow the guidelines in the electronic poster tutorial.
Include the grade category and title of your poster in your file name.
Ensure the image/file is high enough quality that it can be zoomed in on and all text and graphics can be easily read.
Make sure the poster gives no information that identifies the team or school.
Each poster requires a separate online entry.
Posters must be the original design and creation of the entrant(s).
Computer graphics may be used.
Subject matter is the choice of the participant(s) or their classmates.
Brief supplementary information such as examples of original data, references for published data, brief descriptions of data collection procedures, and/or the purpose of the experiment may be provided in a text box in the online entry form. Do not copy and paste your actual data into the form. Please note this information might not be used in the judging, so make sure the main poster briefly provides sufficient information without being too text heavy (the updated judging criteria/rubric penalizes posters with too much text). Follow our judging rubric here.
Posters must be uploaded by April 10.
In submitting a poster, students agree the poster may be displayed at the ASA’s Joint Statistical Meetings, featured in its publications, and included on its website.
State-level First Prize: $50
State-level Second Prize: $40
State-level Third Prize: $30
All submissions receiving prizes will be further directed to the national competition of the ASA for the national prize.
Please complete this registration form with your team's information and submit two electronic copies of your poster to the following email: twincitieschapterASA@gmail.com.
Full Version: This copy should include the poster title, school name, grade, and the names of all participants. Ensure the title and participant names match the registration form.
Anonymous Version: This copy should exclude any school and participant information.
You may submit either a photo/image file of a physical poster or a PDF file of a digital poster. Please ensure the file is high-quality so that all text and graphics are clear when zoomed in.
There is no entry fee for the competition. The submission deadline is April 10, and the results will be announced in late April.
Note that, you do not need to submit to the national competition separately. All submissions to the Minnesota competition are automatically considered for the national competition.
