Privacy Policy — YouTube Transcript Downloader
Effective 14 September 2026
Summary: this extension has no server. Transcripts are read and
processed entirely inside your own browser and are never sent to us
or to anyone else.
What the extension does with video data
When you click the extension on a YouTube video, it reads the
transcript that YouTube itself displays on the page. All formatting,
cleanup and file generation happens locally on your computer.
Transcript text is never transmitted off your device. We never see
it, store it, or have any way to access it.
What is stored on your device
The extension saves two things using Chrome's built-in storage:
your licence key, if you have one, and a count of which paid formats
you have previewed. Your licence key is stored in Chrome sync
storage so that Pro access follows your Chrome profile to other
computers. This information lives in your browser and your Google
account. It is not sent to us.
Analytics and tracking
There are none. No analytics, no telemetry, no advertising
identifiers, no third-party scripts, no cookies set by us.
Permissions and why they exist
The extension requests access to youtube.com so it can read the
transcript panel on video pages, and Chrome storage so it can
remember your licence key. It requests nothing else.
If you buy Pro
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card
details. Stripe provides us with your email address so we can send
you your licence key, and we keep that email address alongside the
key we issued, so we can help you if you lose it or need support.
We do not sell, rent or share it with anyone.
Data deletion
To remove everything stored on your device, uninstall the extension
or clear your browser data. To have your email address removed from
our records, email us and we will delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this
address with a new effective date.
