This course provides an introduction to the fundamental concepts and techniques of statistics. The students will be introduced to large data sets. Using this data, the students will be introduced during the course leading to a discussion on random variables.
Topics covered include descriptive statistics, probability, hypothesis testing, regression analysis, and data visualization. Through hands-on projects and real-world examples, students will learn to apply statistical methods to analyze and interpret data effectively.
Course Outline:
Descriptive Statistics: Understanding data through measures of central tendency and dispersion.
Probability Theory: Basic concepts of probability, random variables, and probability distributions.
Inferential Statistics: Techniques for making predictions and inferences about a population based on sample data.
Hypothesis Testing: Methods for testing assumptions and making decisions based on statistical evidence.
Regression Analysis: Exploring relationships between variables and making predictions.
Data Visualization: Presenting data visually using graphs and charts to uncover insights.
