Professor Ricardo Vardasca

ISLA Santarém, Portugal

Ricardo Vardasca is a Coordinator Professor of Computer Science at ISLA Santarém (Portugal), Integrated Researcher at INEGI-LAETA (Portugal), Visiting Professor at the Biomedical Engineering Department of the SRM Institute of Science and Technology in Chennai (India) and external professor at University of Valencia (Spain). At ISLA Santarem he is the director of the MSc in Web Services and Technologies Engineering degree, director of the Post-Graduation in Data Science and the coordinator of the Projects Support Office. He has been awarded with a PhD in Computer Science and a BSc (hons) in Information Technology from the University of South Wales (UK) and hold a BSc in Computer Science Engineering from Polytechnic Institute of Leiria (Portugal). 

He is a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society (UK), where he was also recognized as Accredited Senior Imaging Scientist. He acts since 2015 as General Secretary of the European Association of Thermology and since the same date he is member of the ISO committee on ISO/TC121/SC3-IEC62D/JWG8, Project Team 9 on Human Screening Thermographs standards. 

Prof. Vardasca is the Editor in Chief of the Imaging Science Journal and member of the editorial boards of the journals: Thermology International, and International Journal of E-Health and Medical Communications and Educational Sciences. In the past he has been visiting research in Data Science at Smart Infrastructure Facility at University of Wollongong, Australia with a Marie Curie Grant.

Professor Simone Belli

Complutense University of Madrid, Spain

Simone Belli is Senior Researcher in the Department of Social Anthropology and Social Psychology of the Complutense University of Madrid, and Visiting Professor at Yachay Tech and University of Valle d'Aosta. He received his Ph.D. Doctor Europeus in Social Psychology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona with the thesis 'Emotions and Language in Information and Communications Technology'. He is head of YT-IN Research Group and researcher in H2020 European project “Giving focus to the Cultural, Scientific and Social Dimension of EU – CELAC Relations”. He was visiting scholar at Georgetown University, University of Manchester, and Manchester Metropolitan University. He has been visiting professor at the University of California, San Diego and Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo, Morelia, thanks to Scholarship for Young Professors and Researchers Banco Santander. He was a postdoctoral researcher at the San Diego State University, Charles III University of Madrid and the Autonomous University of Madrid, by Paulo Freire Innovative Technology/Pedagogy Post-doctoral Visiting Scholar and Alliance of 4 Universities, respectively. He has been Invited Professor at the University of Bergamo, University of Aosta Valley, and University of Helsinki as a Professor in Summer School Course "Emotions and Interculturality". His research is focused on understanding why emotions have a strong relationship with language, and how it is possible to express these emotions in online/offline spaces and intercultural contexts.

Professor László Barna Iantovics

University George Emil Palade University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Science and Technology of Targu Mures, Romania


L.B. Iantovics received BSc and MSc in Mathematics and Informatics from “Transilvania” University of Brasov; a PhD in Artificial Intelligence (AI) from “Babes-Bolyai” University of Cluj-Napoca and finished a Postdoctoral study in AI at “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iasi. In 2020 he obtained the habilitation degree at the George Emil Palade University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Science and Technology of Targu Mures (UMFST). Dr. Iantovics is Full Professor and Director of the Research Center on Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and Smart Engineering (Artemis) within UMFST from 2021. His principal research interests include intelligent systems, measuring machine intelligence, computational intelligence, biostatistics and data science, topics on which he has published dozens of papers, book chapters and has contributed to research projects as project director or researcher. Contributions to international research projects coordination include: Hybrid Medical Complex Systems (ComplexMediSys); Electronic Health Records for the Next Generation Medical Decision

Support in Romanian and Bulgarian National Healthcare Systems (NextGenElectroMedSupport) and Social Network of Machines (SOON). Dr. Iantovics has acted as committee member at numerous prestigious conferences, reviewed papers at many prestigious journals, being a member in the editorial board of numerous journals, has organized conferences as General Chair and Principal Scientific Organizer like BICS, CANS, UICS, etc. He has edited valuable books and journal special issues such as “Advanced Intelligent Computational Technologies and Decision Support Systems''; “Advances in Intelligent Analysis of Medical Data and Decision Support Systems”, published in Computational Intelligence series; “Advanced Computational Technologies” published by the Romanian Academy Publishing House, and others.
