Mia Bobadilla Garcia

  About me

I am Mia, a dancer at Maryvale.  I have been dancing at Maryvale for 3 years now. I am very passionate about many things, however, dance goes beyond my passion; it's my muse.  Dance is a part of me, something that I will never leave behind. I have danced for as long as I can remember, it's part of my culture, and even though I was never a 'studio baby', I was introduced to it way before I could even walk.

My mother and father both danced styles such as Banda, Cumbia, Salsa, and Norteña, therefore that is what I learned first. Jalisco  dresses were my favorite costume, and I always danced in them. When I would perform at my school in Mexico, I remember that the auditorium was always full with excitement!  The atmosphere was thrilling, and the audience was always moved by our dances. I liked the feeling that I received when performing; it was like butterflies in my stomach. Since then, I've enjoyed performing and receiving reactions from the audience; it's exhilarating and has an affect on people.

Dancing has helped me to maintain both physical and mental health; when I am lost in my thoughts, I prefer to play music and dance, dance till I am completely lost. It's cliché, but it's a unique feeling that changes your mind; it's like blowing off steam, but in a good way.

While I was in high school, I began dancing professionally. After making it to company, I had the opportunity to explore a lot of new things and learn a lot of new movements. I got to know incredible people and made amazing memories.  I will, in fact, treasure every opportunity I was presented with.  Although my path will take me in a different direction, I will not stop dancing.

I am sincerely grateful to be a part of the dance community, it truly is life-changing.

Jalisco Dresses

When I used to live in Mexico, we would perform dances in the streets when there was a holiday as part of a school dance festival.

Dance Film~ Capstone

This is my Capstone Dance Film, it was created in the Fall of 2022 for the Maryvale Dance Concert. It was themed "woman empowerment", with the intent to thank all of the women out there who make this earth better.

Extra Piece~ Duo

For the Solos, Duos, and Trios concert in 2023, this dance work was created. My talented friend Evelyn Burgos and I created and performed this duo. When we created this, we had in mind something lyrical, modern, and we wanted to create a piece about relationships and the reality behind them; two topics to which everyone can connect. We were only hoping it was inspiring to everyone, even though we all naturally view things differently.
