Overview for Autumn term 2024:

Year 6: this term, the children will be painting Neurographic style butterflies, next they will practice pencil skills and learn to draw a portrait in profile. finally they will make a Big Eyed animal mixed media collage. 

  Year 5: The children will start the year making a tissue and colour butterfly in the style of Eric Carle. Next they will focus on shading with pencils and practice portrait art. Finally they will make a papier mache mask in the traditional Mexican style for 'Dia de los muertos'. 

Year 4: the children will start by decorating a butterfly in the style of Brazilian artist Roberto Britto. Next they will practice colour mixing focusing on complementary and warm and cool colours, they will look at the work of Russian artist Wassily Kandinsky. Finally they will work on shade through simple still life drawing and painting. they will make a woven landscape using wool and strips of material.

Year 3: The children will make batik style butterflies using oil pastels and paint. Next the children will focus on colour mixing looking at primary, secondary and tertiary colours. The children will look at Japanese art and paint a cherry blossom tree through the seasons. They will look at cross sections of fruit and do detailed pictures using watercolour pencils, next they will make a papier mache fruit bowl in the form of a piece of fruit.
