The Project

The Album Art

To the left is the album cover I designed for ARTPOP. I chose an image that would show the high energy of the album's sound but a level of drama that captures the often serious undertones in the lyrical content. I edited the image with a gradient map and then hand-wrote the title and scanned it in to the design program.

The CD Booklet

When designing the CD booklet, I aimed to keep the brand identity I had conceptualized for the album as consistent as possible. This booklet is where the fluorescent color palette and distorted typography really come into play. The booklet is 28 pages in length.

The CD & Vinyl

When considering the vinyl packaging, I wanted to choose the perfect wax color for the disc. In the end, I chose pink. Pink is an intensely exciting color. I chose it to reflect what would be Lady Gaga's most ambitious album. For the CD packaging I combined the already designed booklet with the disc which features a close-up image of Lady Gaga.

The Promotional Posters

When it came to the "artRAVE" tour poster, I wanted a simple, yet striking color and image to attract the viewers eye. I chose helvetica as my main typeface as it balances out the intense visuals.

For the first promotional poster I wanted to capture the essence of ARTPOP in a cinematic way.  I chose a dramatic black and white photo paired with warped white text to continue a cohesive art direction.

I felt the need to do a traditional promotional poster, like the wheatpaste posters you'd see on walls in New York City. I chose the album art I designed to be the main image. I wanted to use minimal text just to be as clear and concise about what this poster was trying to achieve.

The Merchandise

All of the ARTPOP merchandise follows a similar theme of being attractive, true to the album’s art direction, and accesible to all consumers. All pieces in the line use neutral colors with the exception of the album art hoodie. This choice was due to the need to have the colors suit any skin tone.
