Studio301 Concert Salon in Seoul

Studio301은 2007년 서울숲길 36에서 시작된 피아니스트 김기경(Ian Kim)의 작업 공간입니다.

2007년에는 콩쿠르 준비와 기본기 확립에 집중하였고,
2008–2009년에는 현대음악 앙상블 활동과 동시대 레퍼토리 탐구의 기반이 되었습니다.

2010년 독일 유학 이후에는 약 11년간 오페라 연습실로 사용되었습니다.

2021년 8월, 같은 장소에서 Studio301이라는 이름으로 다시 문을 열었으며, 현재는 <아티스트라이브> 중심의 살롱홀로 운영되고 있습니다.

2022년 3월부터는 피아노 정기 리사이틀을 시즌 단위로 기획해 오고 있습니다. 하나의 프로그램을 1개월에서 길게는 3개월까지 유지하며 주말 공연을 진행하고 있으며, 이를 통해 동일한 작품과 프로그램을 여러 차례 무대에 올려 해석을 점진적으로 심화시키는 구조를 갖추고 있습니다.

이 공간의 특징 중 하나는 Yamaha AvantGrand N3X 하이브리드 피아노를 중심으로 한 연주 환경입니다. 독일 체류 시기, 영화 Shine의 주인공으로 알려진 David Helfgott 관련 다큐멘터리 음악 제작 과정에서 하이브리드 피아노를 접한 경험을 계기로 N3X를 도입하였습니다. 현재는 살롱홀 규모에 맞게 최적화하여 운영하고 있으며, 정교한 음량 조절과 음향 밀도 관리가 가능하다는 점이 특징입니다.

Studio301에서는 클래식 고전·낭만·근대 레퍼토리를 중심으로 한 리사이틀이 열리며, 재즈, 영화음악, 현대음악, 타 장르 예술가와의 협업, 즉흥연주 프로젝트도 함께 진행되고 있습니다.

Studio301은 프로그램의 축적과 반복을 기반으로 운영되는 소규모 공연장입니다. 2007년부터 이어진 시간 위에 2021년 이후의 공연 기록이 더해지며, 현재도 조용히 확장되고 있습니다.

Studio301 began in 2007 as the personal working studio of pianist Ian Kim, located on Seoul Forest-gil 36 in Seoul.

In its early years, the space was dedicated to intensive competition preparation and technical foundation building. Between 2008 and 2009, it served as a base for contemporary ensemble activity and exploration of modern repertoire. After Kim departed for Germany in 2010, the studio functioned for approximately eleven years as an opera rehearsal space.

In August 2021, it reopened under the name Studio301 and evolved into an <ArtistLive>-centered salon hall.

Since March 2022, seasonal piano recital series have been presented here. Rather than changing programs each week, a single program is often sustained for one to three months, allowing repertoire to mature through repetition. Interpretation develops across multiple performances, deepening over time rather than within a single event.

A defining feature of Studio301 is the Yamaha AvantGrand N3X hybrid piano. The choice of this instrument was influenced by experiences in Germany, including involvement in documentary music production related to pianist David Helfgott. The N3X has been carefully optimized for the acoustic scale of the salon, enabling precise control of dynamics and sound density within an intimate environment.

The repertoire at Studio301 centers on Classical, Romantic, and early modern works, while also extending into jazz, film music, interdisciplinary collaborations, and improvisation-based projects.

Studio301 continues to function as a working salon shaped by repetition, refinement, and sustained programming — a space built through ongoing artistic practice rather than scale.
