Emanuele Crotti
Emanuele Crotti (Bergamo, 1977) dopo essersi diplomato in Regia Teatrale alla Scuola Civica Paolo Grassi di Milano, sale e scende dai palcoscenici di tutta Italia (come il Teatro Stabile di Torino o il Teatro Piccolo di Milano) convinto che tutta la sua vita sarebbe passata in teatro. Nel 2008 si trasferisce invece a Berlino e comincia un percorso solitario dedicandosi alle performance, alle istallazioni effimere e all’arte visiva. Si concentra sui valori del tempo, della ripetizione e della distruzione delle forme, del gesto sacro, ma, da suoi anni di teatrante, conserva sempre una vocazione allo story-telling. Il racconto, nelle sue componenti mitiche, nella seduzione delle sue immagini, attrae, trasforma e ci restituisce al mondo con una nuova attenzione al senso. Insomma: incantati.
Ha esposto a Berlino, NYC e lavora da anni nel centro di produzione artistica Bethanien Kunstquartier
Emanuele Crotti (Bergamo, 1977): after my graduation in Semiotics of Arts, I enrolled at the Scuola Civica P. Grassi where I studied as theatre director, with masters as Kuniaki Ida, Maria Consagra, Gabriele Vacis. They taught me the rules of action, presence and silence. For more than 10 years, I have been working as actor, set-designer and director. Big theatres, as Teatro Piccolo di Milano and Teatro Stabile di Torino, taught me to dream big. Small theatres (whose name are just memories now) taught me that, whatever happens, the show must go on.
In 2008, I moved to Berlin and I chose a solitary path: I removed myself from stages and I started to work as visual artist.
My artworks travelled from Germany to USA, from Berlin galleries to Columbia University NYC halls.
I travelled through Asia, from China to Japan, where my western studies clashed with the eastern spirituality.
Of the many lessons I received in my travels and artistic career, one never abandoned me: “Remember - he whispered - whatever form it takes, Art is all about enchanting Time”.
