Q: When did you start drawing?
A: I started drawing since I was little. Back then, though I didn't draw as much as I do now because I thought I wasn't very good at it. To this day I'm still learning how to get good at it. With time and practice though, I think I have lots of potential to become a great artist someday.
Q: What made you want to become a cartoonist?
A: I loved watching animated media for as long as I can remember. In elementary school, I started reading tons of graphic novels such as Captain Underpants, Dog Man, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Big Nate, and Lunch Lady. I remember reading Captain Underpants for the first time, and seeing George and Harold who were both elementary school students like I was, drawing their own comics, and I thought to myself "Hm. Maybe I should do that too. If they can do it, so can I."
Q: Where did the inspiration/idea for Jared & Elissa come from?
A: The idea with Jared & Elissa was to make a cartoon that was relatable for people like me who were shy or weird, which is how I came up with Jared, who is basically like this cartoon version of me. Shy, anxious, scared to talk to people lol. And Elissa is supposed to be the opposite of that. It's basically one of those "opposites attract" kind of trope. Although it may be a little overused these days, I still want to give it a shot because I kind of adore it.
Q: What do you want to be when you grow up?
A: Maybe a cartoonist like I am now. I think it could definitely be an enjoyable job for me, especially for a living. It could change though. This might just be a phase I'll grow out of someday, and maybe I'll choose a different job or hobby to pursue. But who knows?
Q: What other things do you do besides being a cartoonist?
A: I watch a lot of YouTube, especially story time animators and CoryxKenshin (one of my most favorite idols). I'll also play video games, listen to music, watch cartoons, hang out with friends and family, and pretty much, just make the most of my teenage years before they're gone.
