Final Reflection: Building and Refining My Art Website
Throughout this course, I have developed and refined my art-focused website to represent my ideas, critiques, and evolving understanding of art theory and digital media. In preparation for this final submission, I carefully reviewed each page, ensuring that my content was not only organized and visually appealing, but also easy for visitors to navigate. I adjusted the layout, updated menus, added new images where needed, refined fonts and color choices for better readability, and corrected minor writing errors to present a polished final product.
Through the process of building and maintaining this website, I gained a deeper appreciation for the relationship between digital spaces and the art world. I learned that a website is not just a platform to display work—it is an extension of the creative process. It invites visitors to experience art, ideas, and reflections in a curated digital environment. The democratization of images, the rise of new media, and the impact of digitizing art have all shaped the choices I made in designing the structure and feel of my site.
One major challenge was maintaining consistency across the site while allowing each section to have its own unique voice. I wanted the site to feel cohesive, yet still allow room for individual projects and ideas to shine. Another challenge was balancing text with visual elements to create a dynamic experience that encouraged exploration without overwhelming visitors.
This experience has strengthened both my technical and creative skills. It has taught me the importance of organization, audience engagement, and clarity when presenting art in a digital format. I also realized how important it is to consider accessibility and user experience—thinking beyond just aesthetics and focusing on functionality.
Looking forward, I plan to continue growing my website as a professional portfolio, adding new projects, reflections, and scholarly content that reflect my journey in the art world. This course helped me lay a strong foundation, and I am excited to expand upon it in the future.
