Decoupage Kit
Decoupage and paint your own wooden box! Decoupage is one of the easiest ways to turn something plain into something completely unique and eye-catching! With just paper, paint, and glue, you can transform an ordinary wooden box into a one-of-a-kind keepsake.
Our Decoupage Kit is beginner-friendly and comes with everything you need—no special skills required. You’ll learn how to paint, cut, and layer decorative napkins onto your wooden box, then seal it all with Mod Podge for a smooth, glossy finish. The result? A personal piece of art you’ll love showing off (or gifting!).
Your kit comes with almost everything you need:
Wooden box or wooden blank
Mod Podge
Sponge brush for Mod Podge
2 acrylic paint colors
2 brushes for the paint
Scissors
Decorative napkins
Small water dish
Step 1: Prepare Your Box
Lightly wipe off your wooden box to remove dust.
Decide if you want to paint the entire box/blank or leave parts natural wood for contrast.
Step 2: Paint the Base Coat
Use the acrylic paints and brushes to paint the box/blank.
You can cover the whole thing or just the areas that won’t be covered by napkin.
Let it dry completely before moving on.
Pro tip: you can water down the paint and use it to just stain the color on the box/blank. This will let it dry faster as well to move on to the next step.
Step 3: Choose & Cut Your Design
Open the decorative napkin and cut out the shapes or patterns you want to use.
Tip: Gently separate the napkin layers so you’re left with just the printed top layer. This makes it easier to glue down smoothly.
Step 4: Apply Mod Podge
Use the sponge brush to apply a thin layer of Mod Podge where you want your napkin design to go.
Carefully place the napkin on the glued area. Smooth it out gently with your fingers or brush—don’t worry if it wrinkles a little, that adds character!
Step 5: Seal Your Design
Once your napkin is in place, brush a thin coat of Mod Podge on top.
Let it dry completely before adding another coat. Repeat 2–3 times for durability.
Step 6: Add Finishing Touches
If you’d like, go back in with paint to add accents, borders, or background color.
Let everything dry, and your custom box is ready to use!
✨ Pro Tips for Beginners:
Work slowly with the napkin—it’s delicate.
Small pieces are easier to place than large ones.
Always let layers dry before adding more Mod Podge.
