noun; the study of structure and form...
As an artist, I enjoy working on canvas with oil colors and just a paint knife. Sometimes I’m deliberate and intentional, sketching perspective lines while drawing from my experience as an architect, or I can be fluid and spontaneous by randomly applying leftover colors to my next canvas.
These techniques provide a starting point that sparks my imagination. The stained canvas talks to me while I work rescuing shapes and volumes that I feel are already there. As the images come into focus, a new story emerges.
Architect and artist. Ariel Czesler (b.1965), son of a lifelong artist, was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina where he graduated from the University of Buenos Aires, School of Architecture. There he studied art history, the use of perspective, composition, drafting and B&W photography. Those tools and background would eventually lead to discovering the joy of working on canvas. During a yearlong internship in a renowned architectural firm in Mexico City, Ariel was introduced to oil painting. Back in Argentina, he would spend the next 10 years perfecting his painting techniques with local artists and participating in group exhibits having his first solo exhibit just a few years later. Never one to settle, he immigrated to the United States in 1999. Two years later he earned a Master’s degree from Michigan State University. This opened the doors to start a career at Walt Disney World in Orlando were he worked for the next 20 years while continuing to create art in new and old forms. His iconic Mickey Mouse signature pin design won a corporate award and was featured at the park’s shoppes.
Now a full-time artist, he continues to live in Central Florida where he has found his Muse and life partner. Traveling together has become a new source of inspiration. In November 2020 his "Sunrise" and "Gray City" paintings were featured in the Orlando Foundation for Architecture Art Show at the Orlando Museum of Art, where he was awarded the coveted People’s Choice Award. A month later he was featured as the Central Florida Artist of the Week.
