About Me

I am a teacher and an artist.

When I was in high school, I favored watercolor and oil paints. I loved the “no-going-back” intentionality that watercolor requires and the boldness that oil offers. After leaving high school, I turned my attention to studying literature and I spent the next six years of my life drifting away from seriously practicing art. I’ve recently gone back to it, and I have been enjoying exploring new mediums and ways to express myself. Photography was my gateway back into creatively expressing myself and exploring the stillness and compositions of life. I am still drawn to oil painting, and I have a newfound appreciation for ceramics. I am intrigued by artists I see on social media who have mastered digital and video art and I want to learn more about textile and collage.

I love teaching. I’ve been teaching for over 5 years, and I can honestly say that being in a classroom is one of my favorite places to be as both an educator and a student.

I earned my B.A. in English with a minor in Comparative World Literature in 2016, from CSULB the same year I studied abroad at Leicester University in England and backpacked through Europe. I later earned my M.A. in English Literature in 2018 from CSULB and I will be graduating with my Single Subject Credential in Art from CSULB in 2023. I intend to add an additional credential in English as well. I have six years of substitute teaching experience in the Long Beach Unified School District along with 5 years of teaching experience at California State University, Long Beach.

I am eager to continue to learn and grow within this profession and to encourage the same for my future students.
