Hello, my name is Jaylah Higgs and I'm seventeen years old. I have been in Choir since I was in the first grade. I have also been in Band playing the flute since the fourth grade but I stopped playing when I hit the eleventh grade. I'm in Advanced Choir now, and I have been there for two years. The process I used to create my capstone project was to first practice my music for many hours to get the notes down. Next, I recorded what I did on my phone. It took multiple takes to get the perfect videos for my music. I connected my capstone project to the community by showing my Black American heritage to people who don't know about certain Black Artists or composers and their involvement in different genres of music. I just want to show my love of the songs that I chose to everyone and to show the culture of my family and people.
