Tesla's developments and the struggle with power, viewed through the lens of his birth chart in the current times.
Intro
Nikola Tesla was born in 1856, in the former Austro-Hungarian Empire (Croatia nowadays). With a strong Cancer sign on his birth chart, however the chart describes a very restless and communicative person. This is something unusual to be found in a mostly jealous and suspicious sign, which in this case even unfolded an easy and open receptiveness to expose the inner world, especially the psychic world. What was hidden was communicated, such as Tesla did through the lines of his autobiography, or in the demonstrations and expositions where he also showed his independent growth. But this openness, regarding knowledge, ccmmunications and his practical discoveries, had to cope with one of the most powerful signs at the time of retaining the energy and incomes: Scorpio.

In the chart, Scorpio takes the 7th House, the one of declared enemies. And its ruler, Pluto, is in exile although next to the Rising sign in Taurus. This combination, of an absorbent and competitive planet in a sign resisting to let go the energy, can be appreciated in Tesla's several clashes and conflicts throughout his life, in relation to the economic outcomes that derived or could have derived from his works.
Uranus' influence
Tesla is mostly known by discovering at the early age of 25 years-old the rotatory magnetic field and having exponentially potentiated the generation of electric currents (which is known as alternating current), in a way that the generation and distribution could reach and illuminate vast territories, and across long distances. His innovations reached the public sphere, which is an Aquarius' classic feature, the sign of massive disseminations, ruling the 10th House of development and public exposure-image in the chart. Its ruler is the planet of electricity, Uranus, which is emplaced on Taurus, indicating that it definitely alters production models and scientific logic, taking them to an end.

Tesla never finished his studies of electric ingeneering at the university. Formal programs didn't retain him, and for running his experiments he adhered to physical theories considering that the main energy conductor weren't electrons but the ether, which can be found all over the planet and beyond. About the problems caused by those who wanted to acquire the patents of his developments, the interests of big companies pushed to take control of the usage and development of the derivations of his discoveries over time. Power was a central factor, which is a trait of a conflictive Pluto in Taurus that makes us think if it's possible to keep continous domain on what is considered to belong to oneself, or on the possessions of a personal origin that end up creating exponential effects.
The world, his home
Amid his statements, Tesla tried to give shape to a home that would extend much beyond his residence place. He posed a way to illuminate the planet, in a massive vision, like a place where all natural elements have potency and unleash power.
It would be very easy to mistake Tesla with the average Cancer: his sign vibrated in what is massive and open, in the mystic, mediumistic and social experience of Neptune at 20º in Pisces in the 11th House, in the speed and independence of a karma of action taken towards Aries in the 12th House, in the memory of the secrets he shared through his Moon in Libra.
Instability, motion, restlessness and a visionary panorama, beyond the sensorial world and outlined schema, show that Tesla moved away from his fatherly mould, who had been an orthodox priest. Informality and the frequent changes he went through all over his life, along with open communication and the transmission of searching and desires, aren't reactions to that legacy but the ways of a mind and thinking that had to deal with structures -both internal and external-, thereby finding a personal way to make a kind of both inner and outer foundation. This authority, of a young and communicative mind who became a creative founder, is clearly indicated by the conjunction of Mercury in Gemini with Saturn in Cancer, or the boy meeting his father. The conjunction also expresses a changing and unstable mind, although paradoxically disciplined from the roots, too.

The decade of 1890
Coming back to power struggles, there were the interests of his investors, those of Westinghouse Electric & Manufacturing Company and those of General Electric. The most impressive of Tesla's developments were made in the decade of 1890, based on the already mentioned illumination at large scale with alternating current. And during that decade, he also developed another spectacular invention for those times: Tesla's coil that allowed generating wireless illumination. The Wardenclyffe Tower has to be mentioned either, a project meant to transmit wireless radio waves with inteligible signals, and through the ocean. Remember that the Internet just was on the air 100 years later! Whereas in the Colombine Worldwide Exposition in Chicago in 1893, he had even already showed what he called the telautomaton, destined to transmit long-distance communications based on terrestrial stationary waves, and even through the dephts of the ocean.
Tesla run experiments at the Wardenclyffe Tower in 1893. After giving in the patent of telephony and telegraphy to his investor J. P. Morgan, the latter withdrew the financing of the Tower. The photograph shows the construction built between 1901 and 1904, when Morgan returned the funds in exchange of his 51% participation in any wireless patent developed in the future. Tesla worked there for a long time. In 1915, Marconi's enterprise (USA) filed a lawsuit against the German radio company Telefunken due to a patent infringement, since information flows between the USA and Germany had been intercepted. Telefunken called Tesla as a witness and hired him for two years. In 1917, when the USA entered the First World War, the judicial trial remained unsolved and the tower was demolished. In the place, a real estate asset was developed.
In the Colombine Worldwide Exposition in Chicago in 1893, the very building was illuminated with wireless alternating current. Tesla exhibited it along with George Westinghouse, including fluorescent lamps, one-node bulbs and an alternating current generator set in motion by vapor. In the image, the presence of General Electric and the introduction of the telautomaton can also be appreciated. Inaugurated on May 1st, the expo suffered a first burning in July of the same year, due to errors in the design of a chimney that propagated fire on wood (the structure was made of a highly flammable material!). Other later fires were intentional, and reduced "The White City" to ashes in the following two years.
It was his laboratory in Colorado Springs, where Tesla moved in between 1899 and 1900. The construction functioned like a huge Tesla's coil (wireless illumination). The legend of the photograph says: "Experimental station in another phase of development. Discovery of 'stationary waves' made July 3, 1899". The Earth worked as a long-distance transmitter station, and the telautomaton generated 20 millons of volts at 150 kHz frequency. The copper ball at the top was the terminal. In 1900, Tesla left the lab and sold the elements of his workshop to pay debts.
Echoes from the 12th House
During the following decades, Tesla focused on improving his developments and inventions, which later lead to unthinkable derivations for those times: spatial engineering, radio, telephony, X-rays, underwater sonars, a switch box of electric resistances that emitted a current of particles by repulsion (the teleforce, commonly known as "the ray of death")... and the generation of motion based on liquefied air. But before he patented this invention in 1895, his laboratory at the 5º Ave in New York burnt completely on fire.
His karma was a boomerang in Aries, the sign of weapons, in the 12th House of forgetting, dissolution and hidden enemies: great start-ups for Tesla, although losing leadership and presence.
Amid these experiences, it was hard for the Rising sign in Taurus of the chart to work on incorporating and retaining possessions. In declared struggles with his competitors (Scorpio in the 7th House), and with the planet of electricity finishing the reform of conventional techniques and methods (Uranus in Taurus), Tesla's personality or his first personal impressions (1st House) would let know about it. Such as his hidden enemies did, it's still said that he was quite eccentric (some would say abnormal), that he had hypochondriac habits (instead of hygienic, or closer to the Libran aesthetics in the 6th House), and that he got lost in the lights of his mind's visions (some would say that he hallucinated).
His visions could also be considered as mystic ones (Neptune at 20º in Pisces), but they were openly blocked by power issues (semi-square to Pluto on the Rising sign). His mental magnetism led him to deep and innovative perceptions although tensioning the structures (Jupiter in Aries in the 12th House squares Saturn). The inspirational expansion couldn't be implemented if considering the concrete means and the working force utilized by the electricity companies at those times (semi-square to Uranus in Taurus), so they were resisted (Taurus is an Earth sign, fixated and the one resisting changes the more, although Uranus' influence is electric and changes it anyway).
Two semi-squares and one square block the flows: between mysticism (Neptune en Pisces) and a retentive power (Pluto in Taurus), between initiatives to expand (Jupiter in Aries) and physical reforms (Uranus in Taurus), between independent growth (Jupiter) and traditional-formative structures (Saturn in Cancer).
Aries' struggles against the power
Anyway, and even going through economic ups-and-downs making his projects to run out of funds, and transfering several patents to investors and companies, Tesla lived at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York between 1900 and 1922. He later moved in to several hotels and had to closure his offices, although since 1934 and for the rest of his life the Westinghouse payed him a monthly remuneration and the rent for his staying in the Wyndham New Yorker Hotel. The reasons for those payments remain as a mystery, and it wouldn't be strange that they would had been the result of obscure circumstances (Aries-Scorpio). Tesla finally died in January 1943, during the Second World War, still running experiments until his last days. His notes were seized by the US government after his death.
Squares to the karma's nodes always tell about Plutonian dilemmas: power struggles, absorption and loss of wealth, and advantages coming along with disadvantages.
More strange things
In 1882, he worked for the Edison Continental Company in Paris. Two years later, he moved to USA, where he worked for the Edison Machine Works in New York. During the same year, and thanks to the funds provided by Western Union's telegraph company, he founded the Tesla Electric Light & Manufacturing Company.
In 1885, he renounced to Edison's company because it didn't pay him as it was agreed. One year later, his own company' funds were withdrawn and he had to shut it down, becoming a regular worker.
In 1888, Westinghouse Electric & Manufacturing Company bought the patents of the engine inducing alternating current and of the transformers. Tesla worked for the company, although in 1891 he freed it from paying the contract.
In 1895, he founded Nikola Tesla enterprise supported by funds from the Niagara Falls Power Company, the main one in charge of the exploitation of the hydroelectric complex in the Falls.
Based on an artifact patented in 1896, he founded the Ozone Tesla Company four years later. The artifact was based on his coil, and bubbled ozone through different types of oils, creating a therapeutic gel. The artifact had a variation in the following years to disinfect hospital environments.
In 1912, he suggested stimulating brain intelligence with electricity, by setting wires across the walls of classrooms and saturating the environment with high frequency infinitesimals waves. The plan, at least provisionally, was approved by the superintendent of schools in New York City.
In 1915, it was announced that Tesla would share the Nobel Prize of Physics along with Edison, but just a few days later it was announced that some other people would receive it. It is believed that neither Edison nor Tesla wanted to share it. Tesla didn't even want to receive that money even though, some months ago, his property was seized because of payment debts for his staying in the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel.
