Nature is the language; art is the translation.
My fascination with nature started simply: watching a cluster of jelly-like eggs transform into tiny, swimming tadpoles. That early wonder never really left me; it just grew into a lifelong mission to capture the "magic" of the living world through my art.
I’ve spent years honing my craft—from the messy, joyful days of finger painting with my kids to becoming a signature member of the Iowa Watercolor Society. I’ve had the privilege of studying under masters like Don Andrews and Birget O’Connor, but my favorite teacher has always been the outdoors.
Now based in Arkansas, I spend my time exploring our incredible State Parks. For me, standing before a landscape isn’t just about capturing a view; it’s an act of communion. Whether I’m trekking through a sun-dappled trail or translating the movement of light onto a canvas, I am searching for the "spirit of the place"—that sacred thread that connects us all to the earth.
Through Art in Blum, I aim to:
Honor the Land: Celebrating the diverse, wild beauty of our protected parks.
Speak through Color: Using a palette to express a connection to nature that words often cannot reach.
Invite Stillness: Creating art that encourages you to pause, breathe, and reconnect with your own inner journey.
I believe that when we create, we are in our most authentic state. I hope my work inspires you to find your own "bloom" and to see the extraordinary in every living thing.
