ARSENAULT FRESHWATER ECOLOGY LAB

Welcome!

Our lab is interested in understanding how different properties of food webs (i.e., energy flow, foraging behavior, and trophic interactions) respond to environmental variability over space and time. We map this variability using field observations and in situ sensor measurements, and we use diet analysis and stable isotope techniques to link changes in the environment to organism diet and nutrition. Our research is based at the SUNY ESF Cranberry Lake Biological Station in the New York Adirondacks, where we work with fish and aquatic invertebrates in streams, lakes, wetlands, and ponds. We prioritize projects that have implications for managing our freshwater ecosystems in the context of global climate change.
