Assistant Professor of Economics, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), Bengaluru
I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, at JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), Bengaluru. I joined in May 2026 after completing my Ph.D. in Economics at IIT Kharagpur.
I work on behavioural macroeconomics. My models replace rational expectations with simple forecasting rules that people switch between as the rules’ track records change. I take these models to data to study business cycles, India’s recovery from COVID-19, and how monetary and fiscal policy should work together. A second line of work uses instrumental-variable and GMM methods to revisit the empirics of long-run growth.
My doctoral dissertation, Behavioral Expectations and Institutional Fundamentals in Macroeconomics, was supervised by Dr. Siddhartha Chattopadhyay. Before academia, I spent two years as a Business Analyst at Genpact.
How simple forecasting rules create waves of optimism and pessimism, and what they mean for output, inflation and India’s post-pandemic recovery.
How central banks and governments should coordinate at the zero lower bound, and why the maturity of government debt matters, studied in behavioural New Keynesian models.
Revisiting the Mankiw–Romer–Weil growth model with GMM and historical instruments, and measuring India’s output gap and Phillips curve over the long run.
