𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲

So in the blink of an eye, season 2024 is over.

Brisbane did the impossible coming from a long way back in the pack to take home the Premiership while the wooden spoon heads down Punt Road to Richmond.  

The silly season begins with all the trade drama while there will be players hoping to be picked up in one of the drafts later in the year. 

The most pivotal part of the off-season will be newshounds stalking and waiting behind trees, parked cars and pubs in anticipation of that one player or players to trip up and become their next news headline. Let's hope we make it through to Opening Round without incident. 

Clubs will also set their public relations machine to full spin during the off season creating narratives of how their club is training the house down while players will do the odd press conference telling all and sundry of how they are looking for redemption after a disappointing 2024. Some things never change!

I also can't wait for late November - early December when the 2025 fixture drops. It's the time of the year when you get out the yellow highlighter and scan the entire fixture looking for what you think will be the best "away" game to pencil in for a footy trip. 

I know my membership is already accounted for and I'll be ready to go around for another season. You live the highs and lows but that's what we love about our great game.

It's now time to get out the cricket whites for those 5 day Test matches along with the colours of the Big Bash so thank you for all your interactions. I'll see you next season.
