I am Allen Webster Tracey, the eldest son of my father, Arnold Webster Tracey.
On October 3, 2023, I was advised that my father had passed away, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, after a prolonged illness.
There was no obituary published, or any memorial service conducted, that I am aware of. Therefore, I felt a sense of duty,
out of respect and love for my father, to properly honour his life, and to write and share this Obituary and Memorial.
In remembrance of my father, what I have written expresses my own memories, and my own thoughts and opinions, concerning my father, and the life that he lived. I am sure that my father‘s parents and his siblings loved him, and I believe his many friends and associates appreciated him.
I believe he loved his family, and I recall he did many good things for his family, in his best moments, even if his conduct was imperfect, and improper, at times. Since I know that my father did many good things for me, I have chosen to focus on that perspective and legacy.
I recognize and understand that all family members, and all those who knew him, are entitled to their opinions and point of view.
While I know that my father was capable of unkind acts, it is not my purpose here to judge or excuse him. I choose to believe it’s best to remember my father, with humility, generosity, and forgiveness. And so, it is in that spirit that I write.
"In families there are no crimes beyond forgiveness".
