About the Piece

AMPS also known as Amplified Musculoskeletal Pain Syndrome is something my sister has been suffering from since she got COVID-19. AMPS has really affected all of our lives especially hers. AMPS is chronic and happens when the nervous system "overreacts" to pain or pain like stimulants. My sister has really struggled but also made some tremendous progress and I am very proud of her. She has not only pulled through her tough days, but she has gone from not being able to walk, to being able to run freely again. This suite is meant for middle school bands but can also be performed by high school bands.

The Battle. This is a moment of strength and triumph, but also knowing to deal with the AMPS for my sister. The reason this song isn't The Victory is because this is chronic and is an ongoing battle. But she has done everything to push through and I have no doubt in her ability to keep pushing through no matter how tough times get.

I'm creating AMPS awareness since not a lot of people know how difficult it is to endure a condition like this. This is why I created the Journey Project with this  suite to help bring awareness in the music composition world as well.
